CGF lab meet-up

After the excitement of the digital lab launch on the Nelson Mandela University campus, it was back to business as usual for the CGF South African partners.  Meeting with the CGF project lead, Julie Adair, in the Bird Street space in downtown Port Elizabeth, the team had a morning of discussions about how to implement the labs – both fixed and, what we’re calling, pop-up – across all six South African universities.

They covered off a range of issues including lab locations (on and off campus), equipment requirements and ordering processes, an update on the platform build and, critically, how to create a cohort of experts within the partner institutions who can support and train each other during the course of the lab roll-outs.

Each university has now identified its lab managers and they will begin to connect and communicate in the coming months so that the core group will attend, and learn from, future digital lab launches.
