Rhodes University (RU)

Rhodes University is a research intensive university with between 7000 and 8000 students per annum. Rhodes University has become a leading engaged university with a number of internationally renowned engaged research programs and meaningful community engaged learning partnerships.

The Rhodes University Community Engagement Division (RUCE) plays a key role transforming teaching, learning and research practices within the university, working closely with academic departments and community based organisations as they build mutually beneficial and respectful relationships with one another. Through RUCE numerous opportunities are provided for university students and staff to develop and share expertise and contribute to social, political and economic development across Grahamstown and the Eastern Cape by working in collaborative partnerships with community based organisations. RUCE has formal partnerships with 34 community based organisations, NGO ͛s and schools, offering community development and organisational skills training to their partner organisations on an ongoing basis.
