University of the Free State (UFS)

The University of the Free State (UFS) was establishment in 1904. The UFS has three campuses – Bloemfontein Campus, Qwaqwa Campus (350 km from Bloemfontein, in the Eastern Free State) and the South Campus (just outside Bloemfontein). Currently, there are 33 000 enrolled students and 2 700 academic and support staff associated with the UFS working within seven faculties (Education, Economic and Management Sciences, Health Sciences, Humanities, Law, Natural and Agricultural Sciences, and Theology).

The Centre for Development Support (CDS) is a valued and sustainable entity within the Faculty of Economic and Managements Sciences, fulfilling a range of academic and practice- oriented activities. This department is a progressive development studies research and teaching centre with the aim of promoting sustainable human development in the Southern African society (www.ufs.ac.za/cds).
